FAQ: A Guide for Employers

The board and staff of DirectEmployers Institute welcomes employers to partner with us to inspire and prepare the next generation of a more diverse global workforce by bringing a simulated workplace environment directly to students in state-of-the-art, project-based STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Learning Labs and through local workplace learning programs. We hope that after reviewing the answers to these frequently asked questions, employers will be interested in providing hands-on learning opportunities for Central Indiana youth in grades 8-12 to explore high-wage, high demand STEM careers.

Employer E-Toolkit

The Toolkit guides employers through an assessment of their strengths to help them identify effective ways to support underserved youth and implement job training or mentoring programs that meet the organization’s needs and capacity.
These stages are:

  1. assessing the company and selecting a “lane of engagement”
  2. defining the scope of the company’s work with disconnected youth
  3. planning and launching a pilot program
  4. continuing to develop and refine the pilot to build a program for the long term.
