“Every child deserves a champion – an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be”

– Rita Pierson

Career Guidance

When schools partner with DirectEmployers Institute, they gain access to a pipeline of employer companies within the program who can provide:

  • Guidance regarding future career decisions for students
  • Advice and information relating to student education
  • Students who are more academically skilled and successful

Student Growth Opportunities

DirectEmployers Institute gives underrepresented and underserved youth the opportunity to learn about STEM and careers in STEM fields, which leads to increases in:

  • Opportunities for internships and work experience with major corporations
  • More student successes and achievements, both in school and in their work environments
  • The diversification of the STEM workplace, as currently, women comprise only 24% of the jobs in technical or STEM fields and African Americans and Latinos each comprise only 3% of the technical workforce.

Involvement and Exposure

When students are involved in learning labs, their creativity and willingness to learn increases:

  • Students are more likely to pursue STEM careers
  • Students are more likely to pursue postsecondary education
  • Partner companies are likely to hire business-ready students who have completed the DirectEmployers Institute program following the completion of their postsecondary educational studies

“The DirectEmployers Institute summer program was like no other. I learned a lot about the concept of business. From presentation progression to college tours and plenty of inspirational speakers, I think the program helped all of us grow and educate the mind.”

Derrick Hulitt – Student
